Why did the link to comments on my blog item disappear once a comment is added?

Scenario:
"When a comment is posted, the comment link doesn't show anymore and the comments do not show below the item it was added to. What have I missed? Is there something I need to add? I have enabled comments from everyone in the admin section."

Solution (thanks, ftruscot!):
In your individual settings for the blog, make sure the field Max Amount of Comments is set to 0.
